G1 Route Service Adjustment Due to Sumner Avenue Construction
Beginning June 28th 2026, the G1 route will be temporarily split into two separate service segments due to ongoing construction on Sumner Avenue. During this period, all G1 buses will use Union Station as their end-of-line location. Buses will no longer travel continuously through the downtown area between the north and south portions of the route. Passengers traveling on the G1 should be aware of the following service pattern:

G1 Chicopee service will operate between Union Station and Chicopee Big Y.
G1 Springfield service will operate between Union Station and Five Town Plaza.

All trips will terminate at Union Station before returning to their respective destinations. Through service between Chicopee Big Y and Five Town Plaza will not be available during the construction period. Customers traveling beyond Union Station will need to transfer between the G1 Chicopee and G1 Springfield services at Union Station. We appreciate your patience and understanding as this construction project is completed. Additional updates will be posted as they become available.
PVTA is Fare-Free for FY27
No Fares or Passes Needed for Fixed-Route Buses.

Message from PVTA about National Staffing Shortage

As PVTA confronts the impacts of a national staffing shortage, we are working to proactively address these challenges to our operations. Despite our best efforts, the number of qualified drivers available to work continues to decline. To minimize unplanned service disruptions, we have reviewed our operations and service.

PVTA has reviewed each route and adjusted timetables and frequency to ensure that we can continue to provide the most effective service across our service area. We have identified a series of temporary service adjustments that we believe will minimize the impact on our passengers. While the decision to adjust service was difficult, we believe these adjustments allow us to continue providing the safe and reliable service that connects our passengers to the broader community and meets their needs to access employment, education, medical care, shopping, and the community.

Our goal is to ensure that we can provide the service our passengers and communities depend on with minimal disruptions.
